The medium scale steel mills in Dhaka, Bangladesh have kept their rebar prices firm over average demand prevailing in local market, SteelMint learned from its credible sources.

The current rebar prices through the mills in Dhaka, Bangladesh are reported at BDT 53,500-54,500/MT (USD 631-643); for 500 W, stable as against last assessment.

Trade discounts of around BDT 600-800/MT are being offered by few rebar mills at price range of about BDT 55,000/MT, depending on booking volumes and payment terms as well, as per trade sources.

In addition, it’s also observed that medium and small scale mills are still running under-utilization capacity and are running at around 70-75% due to inappropriate demand.

Meanwhile, the large scale mills are still maintaining their rebar offers and are currently offering at around BDT 61,500/MT (USD 726) ex-works Chittagong, including local taxes & size 10-32 mm, as shared by trade sources.

Coming to raw materials, domestic billet offers are registered at around BDT 43,000-43,500/MT (USD 507-513); ex-works in Dhaka.

Recently, the largest rebar mills in Chittagong, Bangladesh have booked a total of about 10,000-11,000 MT sponge C-DRI (80 FeM, 100% lumps) from India at an average price of USD 280-282/MT CPT Benapole (dry port of India & Bangladesh).
