The project formed part of a pot amperage increase project for which EGA intends to produce larger-size anodes with better density.
For the first time, Fives supplied a Xelios 2.0, the latest generation vibrocompacting machine with double wall mould and cover, equipped with DynpacRT, a real-time compaction controller. The tray conveyors of the cooling tunnel were replaced by a chain conveyor.
This contract was a real challenge due to a maximum 6-week shutdown and confined space to integrate the equipment. The existing equipment dismantling began on 25 October, and the first anode was produced on 18 December, to the customer’s full satisfaction.
