In a meeting with Dr. Seyed Mostafa Faiz, CEO of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), and a group of the company's senior executives, Dr. Mohammad Masoud Samieinejad — while extending congratulations on the occasion of "Communications and Public Relations Day" (observed on the 17th of May) — stated: "I am here today to commend and express my appreciation to the employees, managers, and — in particular —the CEO of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) for their hard work."

Pointing to the performance of the National Copper Company during the "Ramadan War" period, he added that, fortunately, through meticulous planning in production and extraction, the company managed to sustain project development and continue operations with a minimal accident rate, successfully maintaining production stability under challenging operational conditions — an achievement worthy of commendation.

Emphasizing the full confidence of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and IMIDRO in the current management team and expert workforce of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), the Chairman of IMIDRO’s Executive Board stated: "We hope that, backed by this trust, the goals outlined in the Seventh Development Plan will be successfully achieved by the company."

Samieinejad identified achieving the production target of 700,000 tons of cathode by the end of the Seventh Development Plan as a top priority for the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), emphasizing that the company is a national entity whose success translates into value creation, job growth, and the realization of public interests for the country.

Pointing to the favorable trend of financial, equipment, and commercial support for projects under the National Copper Company’s new management, he noted that development plans are fortunately progressing well toward their set goals, and this momentum is expected to accelerate further.

Maintaining the pace of exploration and increasing the extraction rate

The Chairman of the Executive Board of IMIDRO identified the expansion of exploration activities as the second major priority for the National Copper Company, noting that the country's mining sector faces shortcomings in this area and that a significant part of the hope for addressing these deficiencies rests on the capabilities and initiatives of the National Copper Company.

He added: The company's managers are expected to bring their performance ever closer to global standards by maintaining the upward trend in exploration and increasing the extraction rate.

Samieinejad also emphasized the development of exports and the expansion of presence in international markets, stating: "Alongside meeting domestic market needs, export development and a more effective presence in global markets must be pursued earnestly."

The necessity of developing the copper value chain

Highlighting the vast potential of the copper industry in the future global economy, he stated: "Despite significant progress in certain segments of the mining value chain, the development of downstream copper industries still requires greater momentum; the expansion of this chain must be pursued earnestly and in step with global developments."
