Mobarakeh Steel Group's mining complex will be strengthened and structured

The CEO of Mobarakeh Steel Group visited the production lines and development plans of Sangan Khorasan Steel Mining Industries Company on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. During this visit, which was accompanied by Saeed Zarandi, CEO of Mobarakeh Steel Group, Vice President for Investment and Corporate Governance, Director of the CEO's Area, Director of Public Relations, and Director of Mineral Processing of Mobarakeh Steel, he stated in a meeting after a discussion with the managers of Sangan Khorasan Steel Mining Industries Company: The mining complex of Mobarakeh Steel Group will be strengthened and structured.

Exceeding the nominal capacity of Sangan Khorasan Steel Mining Industries Company was one of the valuable achievements of this company, which was achieved simultaneously with the presence of the CEO of Mobarakeh Steel Group and the accompanying delegation in this complex.

Saeed Zarandi, CEO of Mobarakeh Steel Group, stated on the sidelines of a visit to Sangan Steel: "Sangan Khorasan Steel Company is considered one of the leading and best units of Mobarakeh Steel Group in the field of pellet and concentrate production, with an annual production capacity of 5 million tons. Opal Company, which is located in the same area, also has such a capacity, and in total, we have an annual capacity of 10 million tons of concentrate and pellet production in the Sangan region."

Mobarakeh Steel Group's mining complex will be strengthened and structured

He continued: "Our plan is to support the projects and forward-looking vision of Sangan Steel Company in the mining sector. The projects raised in this meeting are definitely of our attention and priority. Also, investment in the power plant sector and existing God-given capacities is of great importance."

I would like to emphasize that Mobarakeh Steel is ready to support Sangan Steel projects.

The CEO of Mobarakeh Steel Group emphasized: "The entire region must be re-evaluated, and therefore, our mining holding in Mobarakeh Steel Group will be strengthened and structured. Our exploration area has also been registered and we are seriously seeking new discoveries; we must invest with Opal Group in joint fields in the field of transportation, such as purchasing mining machinery."

Visit to Sangan Steel Pelletizing Plant and Opal Kani Pars Mineral Processing Company

Mobarakeh Steel's rail transportation infrastructure will be developed

The last of the 50 MAP24 freight locomotives was delivered to Mobarakeh Steel on Thursday, March 13, during a ceremony at the MAPNA Locomotive Engineering and Manufacturing Company in the presence of the CEOs of Mobarakeh Steel and MAPNA Group. With the use of these 50 freight locomotives, 160 million liters less fuel is consumed in the country's transportation system annually, and in a way, this action by Mobarakeh Steel is considered an important environmental measure in addition to developing the country's rail infrastructure.

Saeed Zarandi, CEO of Mobarakeh Steel Group, said at the ceremony, referring to Mobarakeh Steel's special position as one of Iran's largest industrial companies: "This complex requires a strong support system in various fields to carry out its production process. So far, we have cooperated with MAPNA Group in three areas; including a 75 million euro contract for a thermal power plant and a 360 million euro contract for a solar power plant, which is worth a total of 850 million euros."

Zarandi also pointed out the importance of providing energy for the production of at least 18 million tons of steel products and said: "To achieve this goal, we need to provide 30 million tons of raw materials. Currently, 60 percent of the 15 million tons of materials entering the Mobarakeh Steel Complex are transported by rail. Also, at the Mobarakeh Steel Group level, we have 25 million tons of cargo movement, 50 percent of which is carried out by rail."

Emphasizing the need to increase the share of rail transportation, the CEO of Mobarakeh Steel noted: "We have a serious plan to invest in the rail sector so that we can increase the share of incoming and outgoing cargo to the complex and reduce traffic and road hazards. Currently, Mobarakeh Steel Rail Transportation Holding (Tokaril) transports 40 percent of the country's mineral cargo and 21 percent of its rail cargo with 5,000 wagons and 80 locomotives."

Successful collaboration between MAPNA and Mobarakeh Steel for domestic production of key and strategic components

This contract, which includes locomotives with a capacity of 2400 kilowatts and 3000 horsepower, began in May of last year, and the delivery of the first locomotives took place at that time."

Referring to the history of Mobarakeh Steel's cooperation with MAPNA Group, Olia added: "The locomotive factory that we are witnessing today was launched with the support of Dr. Zarandi, when he was in charge of Alborz Province. Today, this factory is significantly different from the past by producing diverse and advanced products.
