Exports by Iranian steel mills have increased some 16 to 92 percent over the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 – December 21, 2021) while the country’s imports of steel products fell some 3 to 14 percent during the nine-month period.
Statistics released by the Irananian Steel Producers Association suggest that Iran has produced some 5.1 million tons of different steel ingots (slab, bloom and billet) during the mentioned period showing a 16% increase in comparison to the 4.4 million tons of last year’s corresponding period.
The report however said that sponge iron registered the largest increase as it grew 92% during the period under review.
This is while the imports of sponge iron to the country nearly zeroed, the report added.
The Iranian Steel Producers Association also issued a report last month which said Iranian steelmakers have registered higher exports although their production levels had decreased.
