NEV sales fell by 34.2% YoY to 80,000 units in September, CAAM said, after a drop of 15.8% in August.
For the first nine months of 2019, sales stood at 872,000 units, up 20.8% from a year earlier, while production rose by 20.9% on an annual basis to 888,000 units.
CAAM data also showed that car sales fell for the 15th consecutive month in September. Sales dropped 5.2% from the same month a year earlier to 2.27 million units. Auto sales in January-September were 10.3% lower than the same period of 2018.
According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), retail sales of passenger vehicles in China fell 6.6% YoY to 1.81 million units in September. On a monthly basis, retail sales of sedans, multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs), sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and minivans increased by 13.8%.
For the first nine months of 2019, sales stood at 15.03 million units. That was down 8.6% from the same period last year.
