Iran Steel Production Rises 8% to 15m Tons

Iranian steelmakers produced a total of 15.61 million tons of steel products during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21-July 22) to register an 8% year-on-year increase, the Iranian Steel Producers Association's latest report shows.

Semi-finished steel made up 8.68 million tons of the total output, up 5% year-on-year.

Billet and bloom made up 5.12 million tons of all semi-finished production while slab output hit 3.55 million tons to register a 14% rise and a 6% decline respectively YOY.

As for finished steel, output increased 12% YOY to reach 6.93 million tons.

Flat steel products had the lion's share of finished steel production with 3.58 million tons, up 12% YOY. HRC comprised 3.01 million tons of the production in this category, registering a 9% growth YOY, followed by CRC with 871,000 tons (up 11% YOY) and coated coil with 536,000 tons (up 12% YOY).

This is while long steel products had a 3.34 million-ton share in the output of finished steel products during the four months, posting a 13% rise YOY. 

Rebar had the largest share with 2.7 million tons (up 14% YOY), followed by beams with 369,000 tons (up 19% YOY) and L-beam, T-beam and other types with 268,000 tons (down 3% YOY).
