Under a joint venture with the private Pakistani company Planet Energy, SUNIR is due to establish and register a wind farm company, to be called “Iranpak”, prior to building the wind power plant with 50 megawatt capacity, in the country’s largest city Karachi, IRNA reported.
The plant is slated to be built in a 500-hectare land 80 kilometers off Karachi.
SUNIR has already implemented one electricity project in Pakistan, known as the Shikarpur Project, which included installation of a 500-kilovolt power transmission line. The project was completed 30 months.
Financed by a Japanese bank, the €24 million ($26.8 million) project was designed and executed by SUNIR under an exploration, procurement and construction contract.
SUNIR is reportedly involved in 18 projects in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Oman, Iraq, Syria, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka and Armenia.
