“SalamAir” held a special ceremony hosting two sides' officials to celebrate the opening of Tehran-Muscat route on Sunday.
Nouri Shahroudi attended the opening ceremony, along with a number of Omani officials and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of “SalamAir” Mohamed Ahmed.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Nouri Shahroudi said launching the airline shows affinity between Iran and Oman.
He described Iran's capacities in terms of high population and facilities in economic, scientific and medical fields that could be regarded as a suitable opportunity for Omani people.
He added that SalamAir airline is to facilitate travel between the two countries.
In the first phase, the airline is to launch three regular weekly flights on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
SalamAir is a low-cost airline which is based at Muscat International Airport.
Back in February, Iranian and Omani officials celebrated establishment of direct flights between Iran’s Persian Gulf Island of Qeshm and Omani capital city of Muscat.
The two-way direct flight between Qeshm and Muscat is to be conducted twice a week.
The opening ceremony was held on February 05 in presence of Director General of Qeshm Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and Nouri Shahroudi.
Also a number of with Omani local officials were present in the event.
The Iranian ambassador said the new flight routes will increase connections between the two sides and lead to expansion of relation and cooperation.
