Despite all odds and difficulties on site, team spirit, determination and professionalism made it possible to achieve a goal which just a few days before seemed to be out of reach. Both teams believed in their common target, and the first coil was produced in high quality.

With the continuous pickling line still under erection, in April 2016 Atakaş asked to speed up the work to produce the first coil in the shortest time possible, requiring that Danieli anticipated the target date. Danieli accepted the challenge, and thanks to the effort and energy of the Atakaş and Danieli teams, standard commissioning times were re-written. Danieli then began cold commissioning one area at a time. Erection was completed one week before the first coil was produced, while equipment tuning by Danieli was well under way.
On May 16th, 2016 at 14:11 local time, the new continuous pickling line successfully processed the first coil to the full satisfaction of the Danieli and Atakaş teams. This ambitious result confirms Danieli’s excellent job execution and project management capabilities, which required coordinating the activities of several Group divisions (Danieli Wean United, Danieli Automation, Danieli Engineering, Danieli Service) as well as the Group’s manufacturing workshops in Italy, China and Thailand. Designed to process strip in thicknesses between 1.5 to 5 mm and widths between 600 to 1,550 mm, at a maximum processing speed of 220 mpm, the line incorporates the latest Turboflo® pickling technology to ensure the most effective and flexible pickling action even at low temperature, such as in this particular, accelerated commissioning situation.

The cutting-edge technology used in Danieli Automation’s electrical and automation systems - which include the latest suite of L2 software pickling models to optimize acid and steam consumption – was a significant factor in the success of this challenging project.
