MSC crude steel production accounts to around 33% share of the total Iranian crude steel production during the period. Iranian steelmakers produced around 20.50 MnT of crude steel during CY'18 (Jan-Oct'18). Production was up by 19% Y-o-Y against 17.30 MnT produced during the same period of CY’17.
According to Mr. Hamidreza Azimian, CEO of MSC, “Production of this year's hot plate in the Mobarakeh Steel Group was 4.56 MnT, adding that the share of Mobarakeh Steel Hot Rolling Line was 3.78 MnT and the share of the Saba Steel Complex was 0.78 MnT.
He added, “Production of the MSC group including MSC, HOSCO and Saba Steel Complex was around 8.60 MnT, this year according to MSC plan, the group is likely to produce 9.40 MnT.”
Talking about the need to provide priority to domestic market, he said, "This year, the company first needs to supply steel to the domestic markets, and then they will offer their steel for exports."
Mobarekah Steel was by far the largest manufacture of DRI in Iran during first seven months of Persian year (21 Mar-22 Oct’18), the company produced 4,311,256 MT DRI. Production was constant during the period. MSC was also the largest producer of Slab during the current Persian year. The company produced 3,940,498 MT during the period, registered a growth of 6% Y-o-Y.
Hormozgan Steel, a subsidiary of MSC, was the third largest producer of slab in current Persian year, followed by Saba Steel. The companies produced 855,991 MT and 733,038 MT respectively with growth of 6% and 90% Y-o-Y respectively.
