The future of mining lies in technology/ Moving from material-centric to technology-centric/ National development goals of the country cannot be achieved without relying on the capacity of academic elites

me-metals: The CEO of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), while explaining the forward-looking approaches of the copper industry, emphasized the decisive role of technology, knowledge, and innovation in creating sustainable added value and transforming Iran into an influential player in the global copper market.

According to me-metals cited by Mes Press, on February 16, at the 14th Iranian Mining Engineering Conference at Tabriz University of Technology, Dr. Seyed Mostafa Faiz considered the future of the mining industry dependent on technology and added: The mining industry must move in step with fundamental global changes and create new frontiers in production and processing by utilizing technological tools.

Emphasizing the necessity of a strategic link between universities and industry, he stated: "Achieving major development goals is not possible without relying on science and research."

The CEO of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) also announced the readiness of the CVC Fund (Venture Capital) to support technological projects, relying on the capacity of knowledge-based laws, and added: "If a joint model is developed, the issue of elite scholarships and support for the publication of scientific works will also be operational."

The necessity of aligning education with industry needs

The CEO of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), in a meeting with academics, described the decline in the quality of human resources as one of the serious challenges of the industry, saying: "A complex that has the complete production chain from mining to cathode requires specialized and capable personnel, therefore it is necessary for academic programs to be adapted to the operational needs of the industry." 

It is worth mentioning that the 14th Iranian Mining Engineering Conference, as one of the most important specialized events in the country's mining field, was held on February 16 and 17, hosted by Tabriz University of Technology.
