VIETNAM-ITALY STEEL NEW ROLLING MILL IN OPERATION

A Danieli greenfield project for competitive, quality rebar production

me-metals: Vietnam-Italy Steel, part of the Japan-based Kyoei Steel Group, is operating a new high-speed rolling mill in Hai Phong, in the north of Vietnam where 500,000 tpy of rebar from 10 to 51 mm dia will be produced.

According to me-metals cited from mining.com, Supplied by Danieli as a greenfield project, the new rolling mill allows Vietnam-Italy Steel to supply the local market with added-value rebar in bundles, with high internal bar quality thanks to the implemented quenching and self-tempering hot-rolling processes, with accurate dimensions ensured by a six-pass multidrive, high-speed, twist-free finishing block.

High bundle shape quality is also provided by Sund Birsta’s automatic wire-binding machines.

Linked to the existing caster, and upgraded by Danieli, the mill is rolling in billet-to-billet direct-charge mode with billet temperature equalized by Danieli Q-Heat induction heaters for minimum direct carbon emissions and green operation.

During the inauguration ceremony Meguru Nishimura, chairman of Vietnam-Italy Steel, expressed the satisfaction of the company for the excellent service provided by Danieli, presenting an official “certificate of achievement”.
