OCEA had an edge over others on the basis of efficient cost reduction and lesser CO2 emission capabilities.  This vessel is the fifth to be delivered under a contract that started execution in late 2017 with the construction of four fast patrol boats.  All four were commissioned over the year 2018 and currently in operation in the Philippine waters.

OCEA said that OPV 270 is the amalgamation of their 30 years of shipbuilding experience and innovation towards reducing ownership cost and environmental footprint.

OCEA specializes in aluminium ships for its inherent advantages.  Due to its anti-corrosive properties, aluminium boats have a long life and need lesser maintenance. Aluminium helps in fuel economy because of its lightweighting properties. The OCEA OPV 270 can help reducing carbon emission by 20,400 tonnes in 20 years of operation, which is about 40% less carbon emission compared to its competition.

The versatile OCEA OPV 270 is designed to perform all the maritime security and safety operations of the Coast Guards in the Philippine waters. It is designed to perform diverse functions while ensuring the safety and comfort of the crew.
