South Korea Steel Exports Statistics Q1 CY’19

South Korea Billet export down 33% Q-o-Q in Q1 CY’19- The nation’s billet exports fell significantly by 33% in Q1 CY’19 to 0.10 MnT which was 0.15 MnT in Q4 CY’18.

Whereas on monthly basis billet exports remained unchanged in Mar’19 and Feb’19 at 0.03 MnT.

Meanwhile on yearly premises nation’s billet exports decline to twofold in Mar’19 to 0.03 MnT in comparison to 0.07 MnT in Mar’18.

Commodity wise South Korea Billet exports- South Korea majorly exports billets to Japan and accounted for 0.05 MnT in Q1 CY’19 registering a significant fall of 54% in comparison to 0.11 MnT in Q4 CY’18.

Meanwhile South Korea exported 0.02 MnT of billet to Thailand in the current quarter.

Following this Indonesia and Taiwan imported 0.01 MnT each in Q1 CY’19.

South Korea Finish long exports remain stable Q-o-Q basis in Q1 CY’19- The exports of finished long steel at 0.6 MnT in Q1 CY’19 has remained at similar levels as in Q4 CY'18.

Nation’s exports volumes on monthly basis moved up marginally by 5% in Mar'19 0.21 MnT against 0.2 MnT in Feb'19.

On yearly premises finish long exports for Mar’19 remain unchanged over 0.21 MnT in Mar’18.

South Korea mainly exports to Vietnam and Malaysia and accounted for 0.07 MnT each, whereas shipment to Japan was 0.06 MnT in Q1 CY'19.

Commodity wise South Korea finish long exports- Commodity wise Structure (Angles & Shapes) has gain the maximum volume and recorded at 0.27 MnT (HS code 7215 & 7216) followed by Rebar (Bar & Rod) - 0.26 MnT (HS Code 7213 & 7214) and Wire rod - 0.07 MnT (HS Code 7217) in Q1 CY'19.

South Korea Flat steel exports up by 12% Q-o-Q in Q1 CY’19- The nation’s flat steel exports were significantly increased by 12% Q-o-Q in Q1 CY’19 to 6.14 MnT as compared to 5.46 MnT in Q4 CY’18.

South Korea exports significant volumes of flat steel to India amid free trade agreement. Thus nation’s flat steel exports to India escalate by 10% to 0.72 MnT in Q1 CY'19 which was 0.65 MnT in Q4 CY'18.

Also USA trade tariffs to Korea resulted to trade diversions and nations flat steel exports to China, Japan and India.

On monthly premise nation’s flat steel exports inched down by 2% in Mar’19 to 1.98 MnT in comparison to 2.02 MnT in Feb’19.

Meanwhile on yearly basis the same reported decline by 5% Y-o-Y in Mar’19 which was 2.08 MnT in Mar’18.

Country-wise South Korea flat steel exports- Japan being the major importer of South Korean flat steel imported 0.84 MnT in Q1 CY’19 registering a significant rise of 20% against 0.7 MnT in the Q4 CY’18.

Following this China imported 0.78 MnT, India 0.72 MnT, United States 0.54 MnT and Mexico 0.50 MnT in Q1 CY’19.

Meanwhile Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Italy and Belgium also imported flat steel in smaller quantities in Q1 CY’19.

Ferro-Manganese exports up by 25% Q-o-Q in Q1 CY’19- Nation’s ferro-manganese exports volumes have registered an increase of 25% to 0.05 MnT in the current quarter while for Q4 CY’18 it was 0.04 MnT.

Whereas the exports remained stable at 0.02 MnT in Mar’19, Feb’19 (M-o-M) and Mar’18 (Y-o-Y).

Finish flat stainless steel exports in Q1 CY’19- Nation’s exported 0.37 MnT of finish flat stainless steel in Q1 CY’19, significantly up by 16% against 0.32 MnT in Q4 CY’18.

Whereas on yearly basis nation’s exports increased by 20% to 0.12 MnT in Mar’19 which was 0.10 MnT in Mar’18.

On monthly premises the nation’s export stood at 0.12 MnT in Mar’19 unchanged against Feb’19.

Country-wise South Korea Finish flat stianless steel exports- South Korea majorly exports finish flat stainless steel to Vietnam and China and accounted for 0.06 MnT for each of the nations in Q1 CY’19 stable over Q4 CY’18.

Following this nation also exported to Turkey 0.05 MnT, Thailand and Japan 0.04 MnT each while Italy and India accounted for 0.03 MnT each in Q1 CY’19.

Other nations like Taiwan, Mexico and Indonesia also imported finished flat stainless steel in smaller quantities in Q1 CY’19.
