Phosphate Concentrate Output Rises

Esfordi Phosphate Industrial and Mineral Complex produced 14,859 tons of phosphate concentrate in the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 20), indicating a 22% rise compared to last year’s corresponding period, Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported on its website.

The industrial complex also extracted 43,305 tons of phosphate in the same period, which indicates a 26% surge. Esfordi Phosphate Industrial and Mineral Complex is a subsidiary of IMIDRO and Iran’s only producer of phosphate with 36.5% purity. The plant is located in Bafq County of Yazd Province. In addition to phosphate fertilizers for agriculture, phosphorus from rock phosphate is also used in animal feed supplements, food preservatives, anti-corrosion agents, cosmetics, fungicides, ceramics, water treatment and metallurgy.
