The Foundry in Transition through Digitization

For the 63rd time, the who-is-who of the Austrian foundry, user and supplier industry will meet at the foundry conference in Schladming.

"The Foundry in Transition through Digitization" is the motto of this year's event, during which research results, practical experience and knowledge will be exchanged over the course of two days.

Digitization is a term that means the transformation of processes and business models into the digital world. This unstoppable change - often referred to as the 4th Industrial Revolution - affects both the world of work and many sectors of society down to the private sector. This multi-layered and complex process also leads to uncertainties and fears due to lack of accurate forecasts and thus unclear future.

The foundry, user, and supplier industry is also facing a major process of change as a result of digitization, both in terms of technical processes and internal processes, as well as in logistical interaction with customers and the supply industry.

With this topic and the associated challenges and opportunities, and how our world of work is being transformed by digitization, this year's foundry conference will feature industry experts from Austria, Germany and Switzerland from the field of industry, research, science and academics.

There will be lectures on topics such as Big Data Management, Machine Learning, Collaborative Robotics and Virtual Reality, as well as interesting facts from the world of Cyber Security. But the actual core competence of the foundries with regard to material development and process metallurgical topics is also dealt with in parallel lecture series for iron and non-ferrous casters.

An accompanying exhibition by the supplier industry as well as a joint evening with the possibility to exchange ideas and networks is planned.
