India - SAIL Records Best Ever Quarterly Crude Steel Output in Q3FY19

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) - govt owned steel mill has recently announced its quarterly results for Q3FY19.The steel mill has reported surge in its crude steel output on Q-o-Q basis.

1.SAIL crude steel production increases by 16% Q-o-Q in Q3FY19- Company's crude steel production increases by 16% to 4.28 MnT in Q3FY19 in comparison to 3.70 MnT in Q2FY19. In 9MFY19, the same stood at 11.928 MnT up by 8% against 11.017 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

2.Company’s saleable steel production up by 7% Q-o-Q in Q3FY19- Saleable steel production of SAIL recorded at 3.795 MnT in Q3FY19 moved up by 7% which was 3.537 MnT in Q2FY19. On 9MFY19 basis the same stood at 10.946 MnT up by 5% as compared to 10.461 MnT in same time period of previous month.

3.Company’s saleable steel sales fell by 7% Q-o-Q in Q3FY19- Company’s saleable steel sales stood at 3.237 MnT in Q3FY19 fell by 7% Q-o-Q as against 3.475 MnT in Q2FY19. However on 9MFY19 the same stood at 9.983 MnT as compared to 10.342 MnT in 9MFY19.

4.Company’s EBITDA increases by 7% Q-o-Q in Q3FY19- Company witness increase in EBITDA which stood at INR 2,653 Crore in Q3FY19 against INR 2,474 CR in Q2FY18. However in 9MFY19 the same stood INR 7806 CR against INR 2560 CR in similar time frame of previous year.

5.Company’s Semis component in production : Company’s semis production accounted for 19.51% of saleable steel in semis component in Q3FY19 which was 21.64% in previous quarter.However the same in 9MFY19 stood at 20.48% against 19.37% in similar time of previous year.

6.Modernization and Expansion Plans in Q3FY19- Production through twin-hearth furnace (THF) route to be replaced by BOF-LD converter route. Also production through Ingot – teeming route to be replaced with continuous cast production route.And enhancement of production volume by addition of 2 new 4060 m3 Blast Furnaces and one Blast Furnace of 4160 m3.

7.New Products to be Added- Company is planning to add new products which are Auto grade CR Products, Galvanized Coils and Sheets.Also Plates and Pipes to meet up to API 100 Grade specification.

8.Coke rate remain firm in 9MFY18-19- Company’s coke rate remain largely stable in 9MFY18-19 at 457 kg/thm which was 460 kg/thm in 9MFY17-18.

9.BF Productivity rate in 9MFY18-19- BF Productivity rate stood at 1.60 T/m3/day in 9MFY18-19 as compared to 1.68 T/m3/day in 9MFY17-18.

10.Company’s profit after tax reported increase in Q3FY19 - Company’s PAT (profit after tax) reported increase in Q3FY19 at INR 616 CR which was INR 554 cr in previous quarter.
