Danieli’s scrap-recycling technology is reaffirmed by Novelis as a trusted solution

Upgraded aluminum shredder line enables greater scrap flexibility and higher recycled content

me-metals: The shredder line at Novelis’ Nachterstedt recycling facility, originally supplied by Danieli Centro Recycling and in operation since 2014, has been successfully upgraded to meet evolving market requirements.

According to me-metals cited by danieli.com, The plant, designed as a three-line system for UBC, flex, and heavy scrap, has adapted to significant shifts in scrap availability and quality. In response, Novelis once again partnered with Danieli to enhance the shredder line’s capability to process a wider range of input materials, including scrap streams with higher levels of contaminants.

The primary objective of the upgrade was to improve the removal of organic contaminants and enable higher recycled content in finished products. The scope included modifications to both the shredder and downstream systems.

To minimize operational disruption, the majority of equipment was pre-assembled offline, allowing for a significantly reduced plant shutdown during installation.
