Iran’s first exploited deposit of the precious mineral, Mouteh Gold Mine, is located in Meymeh County in Isfahan Province. It holds 1.2 million tons of proven gold reserves with a grade of 4 grams per ton. According to Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Iran’s annual 2.5-ton gold output accounts for 1.5% of the world’s total gold production, Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported on its news portal.
