Philippine petrochemical producer JG Summit has shut its 480,000 t/yr cracker in Batangas following a power outage on 30 March.
It is unclear when the cracker will be able to restart. Downstream polymers units have also been shut.
The naphtha-based cracker has nameplate capacity to produce 480,000 t/yr of ethylene and 240,000 t/yr of propylene. Downstream derivatives include a 320,000 t/yr polyethylene (PE) unit and 190,000 t/yr polypropylene (PP) unit.
JG Summit raised ethylene capacity by 50pc through an expansion project last year.
