Making the remarks on Thursday in a ceremony held in Kerman to appreciate the efforts of the provincial exporters, Alimudin said that Jakarta is after increasing trade ties with Iran.
He added that in a bid to encourage trade ties, the process of issuing visas for Iranian businesspersons have been facilitated.
Alimudin noted that more effort is needed from both sides to prepare the ground for increasing exports in order to expand mutual cooperation.
He also said that his visit to Kerman was a good opportunity for getting acquainted with the regional businesspeople.
Although agricultural products such as dates are now being exported to Indonesia from Iran, the total amount of exports is less than expectations, he said.
In a relevant development in late November 2018, Iranian Commercial Attaché to Indonesia Anwar Kamari said that Iran’s export of non-oil goods to Indonesia showed a significant rise.
Ordinary metals, including iron and steel, with $220 million and 74 percent growth are in the forefront of exports to Indonesia compared to last year, he added.
Kamari said the non-oil exports to Indonesia showed 20 percent in the same period.
"Plastic, chemical, petroleum, steel, and food products are among main Iran’s non-oil exports to Indonesia," he added.
Kamari reiterated imports from Indonesia mainly include wood and paper pulp, inorganic chemicals, wood and wood products, food and beverage, and home appliances.
