Fagor Ederlan Group inaugurates a new Plant in Bergara

The Basque cooperative Fagor Ederlan Group has inaugurated a new factory in the Gipuzkoan municipality of Bergara specialized in the production of low-pressure aluminum suspension components for the automotive sector, which has meant an investment of 55 million euros.

The event, held on November 18, was attended by Iñigo Urkullu, and the Minister of Economic Development and Infrastructure of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapia. The event was also attended by the president of the Mondragón Corporation, Iñigo Uncín, the president of Fagor Ederlan, Aitor Axpe, and the general director of the same group, Juan Mari Palencia.

The new headquarters in Bergara, which adds to the other three active plants of the company located in Mexico, China and Arrasate, is a commitment to technological development and will allow to produce 1.7 million pieces per year.

“Among all the cooperatives we have been able to open the doors of this plant, offering a job and future opportunity for many people. We are clear that we have a great social responsibility and our goal is to achieve sustainable development, ”said Aitor Axpe, president of Fagor Ederlan.

The Basque firm plans to create 220 new jobs in this new production plant. Fagor Ederlan Group specializes in the manufacture of components to supply international automotive brands such as BMW, Mercedes or Jaguar LandRover.
