Iran, Kazakhstan Discuss Trade Ties, Caspian Legal Regime

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Kazakh counterpart Mukhtar Tleuberdi in a meeting in the city of Nur Sultan explored avenues for broadening of mutual cooperation and Caspian legal regime.

During the meeting in the Kazakhstan capital on Monday, the two sides discussed the trade and economic cooperation, especially within the Caspian Sea Legal Regime, port as well as air transport cooperation, consular relations along with the upcoming Astana Process.

Zarif left for Kazakhstan early Monday to take part in the two-day Astana Club meeting.

In a meeting in late September, Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and his Kazakh counterpart Saparkhan Omarov said that their respective governments are determined to boost bilateral relations between the private and state sectors of the two countries.

Heading delegations from their respective countries, Hojjati and Omarov co-chaired the 16th meeting of Iran-Kazakhstan joint economic, trade, science and cultural commission in the Kazakh capital city of Nur-Sultan where they signed scores of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries.

The Kazakh delegation was comprised of a host of deputy ministers in areas of industry, education, social affairs, environment, trade, along with representatives from KazaInvest Company and some Kazakh businesspeople and traders.

The Iranian delegation was made up of 40 representatives from the Iranian Parliament and Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade.
