NICICO’s Copper Cathode Output Up 15.5%

The subsidiaries of National Iranian Copper Industries Company produced 110,268 tons of copper cathode during the seven months to October 22, registering a 15.5% growth compared to last year’s corresponding period.

Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization also reported that Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex with 77,258 tons and Miduk Copper Complex with 33,010 tons were the biggest producers. NICICO is the leading copper producer in the Middle East and North Africa region, as its mines hold close to 14% of Asia’s copper deposits and about 3% of global reserves. Iran holds about 4 billion tons of estimated copper reserves, according to the Geological Survey of Iran.
