Iran Planning to Launch Medical-Grade PVC Plant by 2020

Managing Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Behzad Mohammadi said that Hegmataneh Petrochemical Plant, a producer of medical-grade PVC, would come on stream in spring 2020.

Medical grade PVC compounds are widely used in manufacturing variety of products for pharmaceutical and hospital industries, such as blood bags, blood transfusion sets, IV bags, oxygen masks, etc.

“The medical-grade PVC production plant would come online as planned,” Mohammadi said.

He noted that the PVC grade produced in the facility was of special importance to the country, saying with the support of the Iranian oil ministry and the NPC, the financial facilities required for completing the project had been procured and its construction was going according to the schedule.

The state-run NPC supervises feedstock supply to the petrochemical industry of Iran.

The total value of petrochemical products from domestic sales and exports has hit $17 billion annually.
