Latest data from the ministry indicate crude steel production rose by 6.5% during the period under review compared with last year’s corresponding period to exceed 10 million tons.
The production of finished steel saw a 9.3% year-on-year rise to 8.91 million tons.
The highest growth among the reviewed mineral products was registered for porcelain ware, sanitary ware, glass sheet, glassware and copper cathode.
Iran produced 23,800 tons of porcelain ware during the five months to Aug. 22, up by 24.4% YOY—the highest rise among the 12 products under review.
Sanitary ware output rose 20% to 45,000 tons.
Glass sheet production hit 457,100 tons, up by 19.5% YOY,
Glassware output rose 18.3% to 228,900 tons.
Copper cathode production saw an 18% growth to 117,800 tons.
Cement production grew 0.6% YOY to 24.37 million tons.
However, the production of aluminum ingots, coal concentrates, iron ore and alumina witnessed declines.
Aluminum ingot output decreased by 33% YOY to 103,000 tons, while that of coal concentrate declined by 7.7% YOY to 642,000 tons.
The country produced 14.57 million tons of iron ore and 98,000 tons of alumina during the period to register a 5.3% and 4.3% decrease YOY respectively.
