Khouzestan Steel Company is the largest Iranian semis producer
Over the past few weeks, the supplier has managed to sign several large contracts in this outlet, Metal Expert, a Ukraine-based provider of news and analysis on steel products and steelmaking raw materials industries, reported on Tuesday.
Slightly better demand for slabs in the Far East made customers more interested in Iranian material with November shipment. As a result, about 20,000 tons of slabs were sold to Indonesia at $325/ton FOB last week. Deals for supply of 50,000 tons and 40,000 tons to Taiwan and Thailand respectively were made in early October, a company source said.
KSC intends to maintain strong positions in the Far East further on despite competition. Hormozgan Steel Complex is quite active in the destination.
Over the first six months of the current Iranian year (started March 20), the supplier managed to raise supplies tenfold to 365,100 tons. Besides, KSC has to stand against other foreign suppliers such as Russia, Brazil and Japan.
“We offer acceptable prices to our buyers compared to other suppliers, so we are able to successfully compete with other slab exporters depending on market sentiments,” a source told Metal Expert.
