A ceremony was held on 28 August 2019 to mark the occasion. It was attended by the Acting Chief Executive Officer Ali Al Baqali, Alba Executive Management team, employees and contractors across the plant.

Alba’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa stated: “Achieving 10 million working-hours without any Lost Time Injury (LTI) in the smelting industry is a rare feat, especially as we progress with the full ramp-up of Potline 6. Alba could not have achieved this without a strong leadership emphasis on Safety and Health as well as collective ownership to maintain a zero-accident work environment.”

Alba’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Ali Al Baqali said: “This proud landmark is the outcome of our pro-active commitment, and I thank everyone, employees and contractors, for thinking and adopting Safety First and Always.”

“While 10 million working-hours was an almost impossible target to achieve especially as 2019 was brimming with all kinds of activities relating to Line 6 Expansion Project, we have done it and outperformed ourselves thanks to our uncompromising approach toward Safety.”
