50% Decline in Iran Lead, Zinc Ore Extractions

Major Iranian lead and zinc producers extracted 129,172 tons of ores during the first two Iranian months (March 21-May 21), which indicate a 50% fall in production compared with last year’s corresponding period, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization’s latest report shows.

Angouran Lead and Zinc Complex accounted for 119,445 tons and Nakhlak Lead and Zinc Plant for 9,727 tons of the total output to register a 52% and 3% year-on-year decline respectively.

The two producers extracted a total of 1.09 million tons of ores in the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2019).

Lead, zinc ore extractions during the month to May 21 amounted to 73,034 tons, down 50% compared with last year’s similar month. 

Angouran's output stood at 67,565 tons, down 52% YOY. Nakhlak extracted 5,469 tons, down 4% YOY.
