“There is no change in the government’s plans. Zanganeh has always been active and is one of the key ministers of the administration,” Ali Rabiei was quoted as saying by ISNA.
“Zanganeh’s name has often come up for impeachment, but I hope he continues his role in the government.”
He went on to say that “Zanganeh’s role at this juncture is crucial and lawmakers should help.”
A lawmaker, Hedayatollah Khademi, said last month he was gathering signatures in Majlis to support a motion to oust Zanganeh for his inability to fight and defeat the US sanctions on Iran’s oil exports.
Khademi said last month he still required enough signatures to be able to move the motion forward.
Bids to remove Zanganeh from office have failed in the past.
The United States reimposed tough economic sanctions last November on Iranian oil exports after President Donald Trump last year unilaterally pulled out of the 2015 accord Iran signed with the six world powers.
