A contract was signed last week between the refinery and Nargan Company to build the unit within three years with an investment of $670 million, the Oil Ministry news website Shana reported Alireza Sadeqabadi as saying.

“Reducing the volume of mazut and converting it into other valuable products is among NIORDC priorities,” he added, hoping that the same initiative would taken in other refineries across the country.

A mazut reduction project is underway at Abadan Refinery now. “We hope that the refineries in Tehran, Tabriz and Bandar Abbas that produce high volumes of mazut can also implement such projects”.

The refinery in Isfahan accounts for 23% of oil derivatives and produces 8 million liters of Euro-4 quality gasoline per day.

It expects to have its upgraded diesel unit operational, and, subsequently the unit will produce around 16 million liters per day of Euro-4 gasoil. The company also produces 20 million liters of gasoil a day.

Nargan is a private company active in engineering, procurement, construction and project management. It has over four decades of experience in designing and developing industrial projects, particularly in the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors.
