Iran, Afghanistan to broaden economic cooperation

Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Commerce Mehdi Karbasian said on Saturday that high officials in Iran and Afghanistan are determined to expand and bolster all-out relations and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

Karbasian made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Afghan Minister of Mines and Petroleum Daud Shah Saba in Tehran on Saturday.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to employ all its capabilities and facilities to transfer its experiences and services to Afghanistan, Karbasian said. 
Grounds for expansion of jointly run projects and investments between Iran and Afghanistan are well prepared, he said. 
Construction of one million ton production plant in Venezuela demonstrates Iran's capability for construction of similar projects in Afghanistan, he said. 
Management of major projects in Afghanistan requires collective contribution of the private sector, Karbasian said. 
Iran and Afghanistan through joint investments can target global markets, he said.
The Afghan envoy, for his part said Iran and Afghanistan enjoy historical, religious, cultural and linguistic commonalities and there is no doubt that Iran can play a leading role in broadening regional cooperation.
Iranian companies can invest in Afghanistan as running rules and regulations support such ventures, said the Afghan deputy minister. 
The two sides officials welcome expansion of customs cooperation in line with both sides' rules and regulations, he said. 
Afghanistan has huge mining resources and can benefit from Iran's invaluable experiences in the field, Shah Saba said.
