According to the data maintained by SteelMint, Iran’s iron ore via bulk shipments in twelfth month of Persian year (Mar’19) recorded at 1.88 MnT, up as against 1.87 MnT a month ago. On yearly basis, the exports have depicted 19% fall as compared to Mar’18 exports at 2.33 MnT.
Iran's pellet export increased to 139,000 MT in Mar'19, up almost three folds as against 46,500 MT in Feb'19. The total exports for Apr-Mar'19 recorded at 750,600 MT. A major pellet production plant has been launched in Kerman, Iran with production capacity of 2.5 MnT p.a.
China stood the largest importer of Iranian iron ore at 14.78 MnT for the complete Persian year, down 25% as against 19.62 MnT in previous Persian year. India imports of Iranian iron ore marked at 0.26 MnT for this Iranian year as against being nil a year before.
For the twelfth month of Iranian year, China stood the only importer of Iranian iron ore at 1.88 MnT, up slightly compared to 1.85 MnT a month ago. China’s import for the month stood 1 year high.
As per IRICA ( Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration), Iran’s iron ore concentrate exports increased to almost twice on yearly basis at 5.55 MnT for the ten months of current Iranian year (21’Mar-21’Jan).
Recently released, Iran Steel Producer Association report, states Iran’s crude steel production in past 11 months stood at 19.6 MnT, up 8% Y-o-Y.
Total crude steel production by Iran is expected to be 2.02 MnT in Feb’19 against being 2.23 MnT in Jan’19 – as per World Steel Association (WSA).
Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), iron ore concentrate production in its recently released production figure for the eleven months (Apr’18 – Feb’19) depicted at 41.9 MnT , up 19% on yearly basis against 35.1 MnT a year ago.
According to Ardeshir Saad Muhammadi, Deputy Director IMIDRO Mining and Mining Industries Development, Iran's crude steel capacity is likely to be expanded and it currently stands at 32 MnT p.a. Furthermore Iran plans to increase its crude steel capacity to 55 MnT p.a. by 2025.
