Receiving complaints from customers over the poor quality of products, Digikala issued a statement on Sunday. "Of the total 1.2 million products offered, only 3,000 or about 0.2% were unoriginal," it said, peivast.com reported.

Although the goods are marked "produced by miscellaneous companies," to further inform buyers that they are not original, Digikala said it will henceforth clearly mention the genuineness of the products on its site.

The e-shop said it is committed to directly stating on its website whether a product is of an authentic brand or a copy, giving customers all the information they may need before purchase.

"The e-store will carry out stringent surveillance over quality of the products offered by suppliers," the statement said.

Digikala started by selling gadgets on its website in 2006. Later it expanded to include more categories, including a subdivision named Digistyle which offers apparel.
