Iran, Nakhchivan to Broaden Economic Cooperation

Officials from Iran and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic met in the capital city of the region and vowed to further increase economic and commercial relations between the two sides of the border.

Managing Director of Aras Free Zone Mohsen Nariman travelled to Nakhchivan to meet with officials of the Autonomous Republic and discuss bilateral cooperation.

According to Iran consulate in Nakhchivan, the trip was aimed at developing regional cooperation.

In his meeting with Chairman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov, Nariman referred to regional and international conditions, saying Azerbaijan is one of the most important and the safest neighbors for Iran.

He also described ways to reinforce relations in economic, cultural, tourism and trade fields as good.

Meanwhile, Talibov described as important commonalities between Iran and Nakhchivan especially with Aras Free Zone.

Meanwhile in a separate meeting, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Economy Minister Famil Seyidov elaborated on the latest conditions of Nakhchivan in regard to joint measures with Iranian producers. 

Nariman also expressed readiness to carry out tourism, railway, road and production plans jointly.

Back in April 2018, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif voiced his country's readiness to develop economic and trade relations with the autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan.

"I am delighted that today I am visiting Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic; I hope that my visit will bolster old ties and develop economic relations between Iran and Nakhchivan," Zarif said upon his arrival in Nakhchivan in early April.
