The visit is to help boost bilateral ties and enhance communication services to the pilgrims traveling between the two neighboring countries throughout the year.

According to the public relations office of Iran Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), one of the topics of the talks will be the disruption in communications reported by Iranian pilgrims visiting the Arab country during the Arbaeen mourning ceremony last October.

They will also discuss solutions to radio frequency interference and non-synchronized video and audio transfer along the joint border.

During the last Arbaeen rituals, Iranian Space Research Center in collaboration with the ICT Ministry used communication balloons near the joint Iraq border to provide pilgrims with enhanced communication services.

Arbaeen is the 40th day that marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the third Imam of Shia Muslims, his family members and close aides in 680 AD in the desert in central Iraq that is home to his mausoleum which is visited by millions of Muslims throughout the year.
