Canada: Iron Ore Exports Down 21% in Nov'18

Trade statistics released by Canada custom shows that the iron ore exports by the country recorded at 4.01 MnT in Nov'18. The exports depicted fall of 21% as compared to Oct'18 exports at 5.1 MnT. On yearly basis exports witnessed a fall of 4% as against 4.16 MnT in Nov'17.

For the duration Jan-Nov'18, Canadian exports marked at 42.79 MnT, up 15% as compared to 37.36 MnT last year for the same duration.

The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) depicted 37% decrease on monthly basis to 2.52 MnT in Nov'18 as against 4.03 MnT in Oct'18. However, Y-o-Y exports witnessed 14% drop as against Nov'17 exports at 2.93 MnT.

Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) exports in Nov'18 witnessed at 1.49 MnT,up 38% M-o-M as compared to Oct'18 exports at 1.08 MnT. On yearly basis, exports depicted 21% rise as against Nov'17 exports at 1.23 MnT.

China iron ore imports from Canada Decline to almost 50%

Canadian exports of iron ore to China dropped to 0.52 MnT in Nov'18, down 49% as against 1.02 MnT a month ago.

Japan marked the largest imports of Canadian iron ore in Nov'18 at 0.65 MnT, up 55% as against 0.42 MnT a month ago. UK stood second largest importer of Canadian iron ore at 0.54 MnT, up 13% on monthly basis.

Exports to France and Belgium increased on monthly basis to 0.49 MnT and 0.31 MnT respectively.
