Iran-Syria Joint Auto-Maker to Resume Production

Syrian-Iranian Automobile Manufacturing Company (SIAMCO) resumes its production line once again after eight years of suspension due to the crisis in Syria.

In cooperation with the Iran Khodro car company, SIAMCO began production of several cars, including Peugeot 207, Shahba, and Shemra.

The Syrian citizens name Dena as Palmyra, Rana as Shemra and Soren as Shahba. The company also manufactures two cars in cooperation with a Chinese automobile factory.

A senior SIAMCO executive said that the price of manufactured cars is between 5,000 and 10,000 Syrian Lira and after-sales service and all spare parts are also provided by SIAMCO.

The official added that the SIAMCO, which started its operations in 2007, plans to launch a production line for trucks as well as public transportation vehicles.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. The Syrian government says the Israeli regime and its Western and regional allies are aiding Takfiri terrorist groups wreaking havoc in the country.

Now, stability is gradually returning to the war-torn country after 7 years of war with terrorists, and with government forces having regained control of the majority of Syria, many Arab countries of the region which supported terrorists in the campaign against Damascus are re-opening their embassies.

Iran has been supportive of the Syrian government in all these years of war with the ISIL and other Takfiri terrorist groups.
