According to the contractor of Phases 22, 23 and 24 of the South Pars gas field, the second gigantic offshore platform of the three phases has been manufactured and is ready for shipping.
The homegrown platform, weighing 2,300 tons, will be held in place and start pumping gas to the onshore refineries in the Iranian month of Bahman (January 21-February 19).
The offshore platform, which has been fully designed and manufactured by the local experts, is expected to produce 500 million cubic feet of gas every day after coming on stream next month, he added.
In April 2017, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated phases 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 of the South Pars gas field, whose development has been divided into 28 phases.
The energy-rich zone is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar, covering an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belongs to Iran.
It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
