MOP to Re-evaluate E&P Firms

Omid Shakeri, the Director General of the Technical, Executive, and Evaluation System of the Engineering, Research and Technology Department at the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, said due to the expiry of the certification of Iranian firms qualified to become E&P companies, MOP will begin re-evaluation of their qualifications in April 2019.

"The assessment of oil industry consultants and contractors is one of the mandates assigned to his department,” he said.

He stated that based on previous evaluations processes, a total of 17 firms were cleared as qualified exploration and production companies.

“The second phase of the evaluations will be carried out with more stringent requirements and the companies must comply with the criteria to extend their certificates,” he said.

Shakeri further stated that the companies would also be required to operate oversees to be qualified as E&P firms by MOP.

He also denied rumors that MOP was about to release a call for new E&P applications.
