Iran, India Cooperating in Aluminum Sector

India’s largest aluminum producer, National Aluminum Company Limited, has expressed readiness to cooperate with Iran in the aluminum sector.

Nalco is considering a joint venture for the establishment of a plant in Iran with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of aluminum, said the company’s managing director, Tapan Kumar Chand, in a meeting with Mehdi Karbasian, the head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, in Tehran.
 The Indian official noted that Nalco earlier signed several contracts with Iranian aluminum producers on provision of alumina powder, and that the company intends to further expand its presence in Iran by cooperating in bauxite mining and aluminum ingot production.
