The previous record was 190,892 tons registered in the last year’s 11th month (Jan. 20-Feb. 18).
“Khorasan Steel Company’s pellet requirements are supplied by Gologhar and Chadormalu complexes, Sirjan Iranian Steel Company, Zarand Iranian Steel Company and Opal Parsian Sangan Company,” Jafar Maddah was also quoted as saying by the Persian economic daily Donya-e-Eqtesad.
Maddah noted that Khorasan Steel Company is also setting up its own pellet plant in the Sangan Mineral Zone located in northeast Iran, which is expected to come on stream in about a month.
Khorasan Steel Company was established in 1989 by the giant Japanese steelmaker Kobe Steel in the northeastern part of Nishapur County in Khorasan Razavi Province. The complex is capable of producing 550,000 tons of structural steel, 630,000 tons of billets and 1.6 million tons of direct-reduced iron per year.
KSC exported 81,623 tons of rebar during the nine months to Dec. 21, registering a 59% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period. Its exports during the ninth month surged 1,937% to reach 4,339 tons.
