Danieli to supply Logan Aluminum with the world’s most advanced and productive cold mill

The new investment by Tri-Arrows Aluminum Inc. will feature Danieli DiamondFlex technology for can-stock and automotive flat products
Danieli to supply Logan Aluminum with the world’s most advanced and productive cold mill

The new Danieli DiamondFlex 6-High Cold Rolling Mill (CM4 designation) will be installed in a new, dedicated building at Logan Aluminum, in Logan County, in Western Kentucky, USA.

The operation of the new mill will further enhance Logan’s capabilities by rolling 29,500 kg [65,000 Ibs] coils with maximum strip width of 2133mm [84”] at speeds of up to 2200 m/min [7217 ft/min]. Logan’s new mill will be the fastest Cold Mill in the world, and also the most powerful with a nominal stand power of 9500kW [12,916 hP]. 

The mill will produce can-stock and supply the substantial increases in demand forecasted for automotive flat products.

The close collaboration and partnership between Logan and Danieli will ensure that the CM4 Mill will encompass Logan’s experience and expertise in operating and optimising high performance mills.

Logan Aluminum Inc. is jointly owned by Tri Arrows Aluminum, Inc. and Novelis Inc. It is a world class manufacturer of aluminum sheet products with capabilities and experience in ingot casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, and finishing operations.
