The small SUV is now offered for 1.2 billion rials ($30,000) -- 100 million rials ($2,500) dearer, the local automotive website Donyaye Khodro reported. The automotive business did not provided any reason for the sudden hike in Captur’s price. The model can be bought for $25,000 in the international market.
This is not the first time the company has jacked up the model’s price — Captur was initially introduced to the local market in late 2015 for 989 million rials ($24,725). After sales picked up and the car became a bit popular, IKCO increased the price in 2016.
According to IKCO’s public relations office, the carmaker assembled some 2,000 units of the Captur during last fiscal which ended in March.
The car has a small 1.2-liter gasoline engine. The raised ride height, being 50cm from the floor, gives it the look of a micro-SUV.
