Goods Transit Through Iran Up 27%

Close to 4.86 million tons of goods were transited through 32 active land and sea border crossings across the country during the six months to Sept. 22, registering a 27% increase compared with the corresponding period of last year.

This was announced by Reza Nafisi, director general of the Islamic Republic of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization's Transits and International Transportation Office.

“Non-oil products accounted for nearly 3.32 million tons and oil products for 1.54 million tons of the total sum,” Nafisi was also quoted as saying by the Roads and Urban Development Ministry’s news portal, News.mrud.ir.

From among the country’s border terminals, he added, Shahid Rajaee Port with more than 1.7 million tons accounting for 35.1% of all the transits, was the most active, followed by Parviz Khan (20.8%) and Bazargan (10.1%) borders.
