Khuzestan Governor, managing director of National Iranian Steel Company, parliament delegation in Khuzestan province and some officials and steel experts attended the ceremony.

During the inauguration ceremony, Mehdi Karbasian announced that all DRI plants of provincial steel projects will be operated by the end of the current Iranian year (will end in March 20, 2018).

Shadegan steel project was one of the suspended projects which was constructed and completed in 11th government, he added.

Based on the plan, production capacity of the plant will reach to 4 million tonnes in next years and will lead to prosperity in production and employment.

According to Karbasian, vicinity to high seas and existence of water prepared conditions for steel development in Shadegan region.

IMIDRO’s actions in line with vast exploration plan led to identification of 400 million tonnes of new iron ore reserves which will support steel development plan, Deputy Industry, Mine and Trade Minister said.

This is the first DRI plant equipped with PERED method in the world, managing director of Shadegan Steel Company said.

Preparing required infrastructures and financing the project will lead to achieving 4 million tonnes steel production capacity in Shadegan, he continued.

Each provincial steel project includes a DRI plant and a steel ingot production plant.

Shadegan DRI plant is 2nd plant of provincial projects which was operated in 11th government.
