Natural gas consumption hits 532mcm

Following the significant temperature drop over the past few days, the consumption of natural gas by Iranian domestic and commercial sectors reached 532 million cubic meters (mcm), an official with the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) announced.

According to Head of NIGC Dispatching Department Saeed Aghili, of the total 532 mcm, 341 mcm were consumed in the domestic sector, 85 mcm in the non-major industries sector, 27 mcm in the agricultural sector, 32 mcm in the transportation sector, and about 48 mcm in the commercial and public sectors, IRIB reported.

Considering the continuation of the perspiration across the country and the decrease in temperature, gas consumption is expected to reach about 630 mcm in the coming days, the official said.
The official further called on the people to manage their consumption during the peak periods to help the national Iranian Gas Company and IGTC to maintain gas supply during the cold season.
