Managing-General of Iran Airports Company Siavash Mokri says Iran has engaged in talks with China and Russia for constructing new airports in the country.

“After the initial studies and negotiations, we will begin technical and more expert talks,” Mokri said.
He said that Iran has carried out developmental projects to equip the country’s airports so as to increase the safety of flights.

Asked to elaborate on the talks with China and Russia as Iranian authorities have repeatedly said they have no plans to construct new airports, the official said that the negotiations are underway for constructing airports in Iran for the next 20 to 25 years.

“We will definitely need new airports with international standards in the future,” he said.
