Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry Signed MOU with Energy Ministry on Construction of 10000MW New Power Plant Capacity

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry and Energy Ministry aimed at construction of 10,000MW new power plant capacity in Industry and mine sector.

According to the report of public relations of IMIDRO, Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry and Energy Ministry signed MOU in order to build 10,000MW new power plant capacity by construction of new power plant and completion the cycle of existing power plants. Construction of 10,000 new power plant capacity by industry and mine sector with cooperation of major industrial and mining companies will be a turning point in electricity sector, Reza Fatemi Amin, Industry, Mine and Trade minister said. We have planned for over 10 percent growth in industry and mine sector, and one of the levers of this investment is sustainable electricity production, he added.

38% share of Industry and mine sector in the country’s electricity consumption
Fatemi Amin noted that the Industry and mine sector has 38% share of the country’s electricity consumption. By construction of this 10,000MW new power plant capacity and adding it to the electrical distribution network, the industry and mine sector will be able to meet its electricity needs, he continued

. Power supply and move towards power plant localization
Industry, mine and Trade minister considered the signing and implementation of this MOU, promising in order to power supply and move towards power plant localization.

The construction of this 10,000 MW power plant capacity by major mining and mining industries companies is an effective action in power supply which will lead to both upgrading the companies and a significant growth in country’s electricity industry, he said.
